Hypoxia Inducible Factor 1b (HIF-1b, ARNT, Aryl hydrocarbon Receptor Nuclear Translocator)

Hypoxia contributes significantly to the pathophysiology of major categories of human disease, including myocardial and cerebral ischemia, cancer, pulmonary hypertension, congenital heart disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. HIF-1, a nuclear protein activating gene transcription in response to reduced cellular 02 concentration, activates the transcription of VEGF, EPO, iNOS, heme oxygenase 1 and other intracellular responses critical to hypoxia. HIF-1 is a heterodimer composed of HIF-1a and HIF-1b subunits. HIF-1 a most closely resembles the Drosophila protein Sim. HIF-1 b is a series of aryl hydrocarbon receptor nuclear translocator (ARNT) gene products. (1,5,6)\n\nCellular Localization: \nHIF-1 beta is a nuclear protein.\n\nPositive Control:\nMCF7 human nuclear extracts\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Freeze at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

Specific for HIF-1 beta/ARNT. Crossreactivity with with ARNT2, which is related to HIF-1 beta/ARNT but is the product of a different gene, is not known. Species crossreactivity: Human, bovine, sheep, mouse, rat and ferret HIF-1 beta.
