IFN gamma (IFNg, IFNG, Interferon gamma)

Interferons (IFNs) plays a crucial role in antiviral, antiproliferative, immunomodulatory, antitumor, and antiparasitic activities by inducing transcription of IFN-stimuated genes (ISGs) through activation of the Jak-STAT pathway. In particular, Interferon gamma (IFNy), a sole member of the Type II IFN family, is involved in lymphocyte activation and the regulation of lymphocyte subsets (proliferation, differentiation) (1). IFNy is expressed in activated CD4 Th1 cells, CD8 cells, gamma/delta T cells, and activated NK cells. IFNy expression is induced by IL-2, TNF-a and IL-12 and suppressed by IL-4, IL-10, and TGF-b (2). IFNy binds to IFNy receptor (IFNGR), which stimulates various immuno-responses such as macrophages activation and enhancement of the type I IFNs anti-viral and anti-tumor activities. In immunocompetent host cells, IFNy protects against tumor development and directs immunogenic phenotype (3). IFN y has been implicated in various human diseases, such as multiple sclerosis and insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (4).\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Immunocytochemistry and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications have not been tested. \n\nRecommended Dilutions: \nImmunohistochemistry: 1:50-1:100 \nImmunocytochemistry: 1:250-1:500\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. \n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months.
