IL-31 (Interleukin-31, IL31)

Interleukin 31 is a cytokine derived from activated Th2-type T cells. It is a secreted protein known to interact with a heterodimeric receptor of IL-31RA and OSMR constitutively expressed on epithelial cells and keratinocytes and thus activate STAT3 and possibly STAT1 and STAT5. Though exact function is not known, reports suggest that it may take part in the promotion of allergic skin disorders and in regulating other allergic diseases such as asthma. It is also known to be a potent inducer of proinflammatory mediators in human colonic SEMFs. IL-31 is upregulated in skin homing T-cells of patients with atopic dermatitis (AD) and in activated circulating T-cells, and also in lesional biopsies of patients with allergic contact dermatitis (ACD). It shows faint expression in bone marrow, colon, skeletal muscle, kidney, testis, thymus, small intestine and trachea.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nELISA: 1:100-1:1000\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
