Established from the pleural effusion of a 62-year-old woman with ductal breast cancer (grade 3 invasive, T2N1M0) after postoperative radiation in 2003; cell line was described to carry an amplified HER-2 oncogene and to be insensitive to HER-2-inhibiting drugs, e.g. trastuzumab (Herceptin)
