Mucosal addressin cell adhesion molecule 1 (MADCAM-1) is a cell adhesion leukocyte receptor e, Xenopus/Amphibian,pressed by mucosal venules. MADCAM-1 helps to direct lymphocyte traffic into mucosal tissues including the Peyer patches and the intestinal lamina propria. MADCAM-1 binds to integrin alpha-4/beta-7 and L-selectin, regulating both the passage and retention of leukocytes. The isoform 2, lacking th emucin-like domain,Mouse,ay be specialized in supporting integrin alpha-4/beta-7-dependent adhesion strenghthening, independent of L-selectin binding.
