Migration Inhibitory Factor, Recombinant, Human (Macrophage MIF, Glycosylation-Inhibiting Factor, GIF, GLIF, MMIF)

The cytokine Macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) has been identified to be secreted by the pituitary gland and the monocyte/macrophage and to play an important role in endotoxic shock. MIF has the unique property of being released from macrophages and T cells in response to physiological concentrations of glucocorticoids. The secretion of MIF is tightly regulated and decreases at high, anti-inflammatory steroid concentration. \n\nMIF human Recombinant was cloned into an E .coli expression vector and was purified to apparent homogeneity by using conventional column chromatography techniques. \nMacrophage Inducing Factor Human Recombinant is a single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 115 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 12.5kD.\n\nAmino acid sequence:\nMPMFIVNTNVPRASVPDGFLSELTQQLAQATGKPPQYIAVHVVPDQLM\nAFGGSSEPCALCSLHSIGKIGGAQNRSYSKLLCGLLAERLRISPDRVY\nINYYDMNAANVGWNNSTFA.\n\nBiological Activity: Human PBMCs were cultured with 0-1000ng/ml Human MIF. Production of IL-8 was measured via ELISA after 24 hours. The ED50 which was found to be 88-132ng/ml.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nLyophilized powder may be stored at -20 degrees C. Stable for 12 months at -20 degrees C. Reconstitute with sterile buffer or ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
