Mouse Cochlear Pericytes are isolated from normal mouse tissue and purified by flow cytometry based on platelet-derived growth factor beta receptor sorting. Sorted cells were validated with Anti-desmin and Anti-NG2 antibodies in immunohistochemical staining. The cochlear pericytes, along with cochlear microvascular endothelial cells and perivascular resident macrophate-type melanocytes (PVM/Ms), are important for maintaining the inner ear homeostasis. Studies have shown that cochlear pericytes regulate the tight junction in the endothelial cell monolayer. The cells can be used in vascular dysfunction-related hearing loss study.
