Note: This is one of 14 colorectal carcinoma cell lines derived by J.G. Park and associates during the years 1982 through 1985. The line was obtained from a well differentiated sigmoid tumor from a patient prior to therapy. The line was initially grown in medium with fetal bovine serum, but was later adapted to growth in the chemically defined medium ACL-4. Floating aggregates produce tubuloglandular structures lined by columnar epithelia. When grown in medium with serum, the cell attach partially to the substrate and form domes. The cells and tumors formed from the cells are positive for Dopa decarboxylase and are negative for the TAG-72 antigen
