NELL2 is a neuron-specific thrombospondin-1-like extracellular protein containing six epidermal growth factor-like domains. It is highly expressed in the hippocampus in vivo and promotes survival of rat primary cultured neurons through activation of JNK and suppression of ERK. As ERK is required for the induction of hippocampal long term potentiation (LTP) and JNK appears to be inhibitory on LTP, it had been suggested that NELL2 may play a role in synaptic plasticity. More recently, NELL2 has been shown to promote differentiation of motor and sensory neurons and stimulates mitogenesis of dorsal root ganglia in chickens. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to mouse NELL2, fused to His-tag at C-terminal expressed in E.coli. Molecular Weight: ~29kD Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -70 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
