Neuroglobin

Neuroglobin, a 151 amino acid reside protein, mainly expressed in vertebrate brain and retina, is a recently identified member of the globin superfamily. Augmenting O2 supply, neuroglobin promotes survival of neurons upon hypoxic injury, potentially limiting brain damage. Moreover, neuroglobin may be a novel oxidative stress-responsive sensor for signal transduction in the brain. Neuroglobin expression is increased by neuronal hypoxia in vitro and focal cerebral ischemia in vivo, and neuronal survival after hypoxia is reduced by inhibiting neuroglobin expression with an antisense oligodeoxynucleotide and enhanced by neuroglobin overexpression.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in ELISA, Western blotting.\n\nTiter: Defined by indirect ELISA is >1:100,000 for antibody concentration\n1mg/ml, 25ng of antigen are coated per well, and is then defined at a point of\nmaximal decrease of the titration curve.\n\nReconstitution: Add 0.1ml of deionized water and let the lyophilized pellet dissolve completely. Slight turbidity may occur after reconstitution, which does not affect activity of\nthe antibody. In this case clarify the solution by centrifugation.\n\nStorage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Freeze at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
