Neuropeptide Y6 Receptor (NPY 6R)

Neuropeptide Y (NPY) is a neuropeptide colocalized and abundantly released with the neurotransmitter norepinephrine in nervous system. It is synthesized by postnatal olfactory epithelium of sustentacular cells. It promotes the proliferation of postnatal neuronal precursor cells and exhibits a diverse range of important physiologic activities, including effects on psychomotor activity, food intake, regulation of central endocrine secretion, and potent vasoactive effects on the cardiovascular system. \nNPY is a 97aa peptide in mouse, human (chr 7p15.1) and 98aa in rat. It has a mol. wt of 11kD. NPY shows sequence homology to Peptide YY (PYY) and over 50% homology in amino acid and nucleotide sequence to Pancreatic Polypeptide (PNP or PPY). All of these homologous peptides have a 36aa mature peptide characterized by a hairpin loop. \nMouse NPY 6R is a 371aa protein. The human ortholog contains a premature stop codon, resulting in 290aa protein, which has no receptor function. It is mainly expressed in kidney and discrete regions of hypothalamus. It functions as receptor for NPY and PYY.\n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nELISA: 0.5-1ug/ml; Control peptide can be used to coat ELISA plates at 1ug/ml. See N2176-67B.\nWestern Blot: 1-10ug/ml using ECL technique.\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nLyophilized powder may be stored at -20 degrees C. Stable for 12 months at -20 degrees C. Reconstitute with sterile PBS. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
