NFAT2 (NFATC1, Nuclear Factor of Activated T-cells)

The Nuclear Factor of Activated T-cells (NFAT) transcription complex is required for the expression of a group of proteins that collectively coordinate the immune response. Two forms of NFAT, the cytosolic (NFATc1) and the pre-existing NFATc2 (formerly NFATp), have been recognized on separate genes, and show sequence similarity with the Dorsal/Rel family of transcription factors. Studies indicate that NFATc is required for interleukin (IL-2) gene expression, is found primarily in lymphoid tissues and is induced upon T-cell activation. NFATc2 shows 73% homology with NFATc1 within the Rel-similarity region, but has a wider tissue distribution and does not appear to be inducible. T-cell activation requires two signals for initiation, one from the antigen receptor and the other by accessory cells or agents which activate protein kinase C. Upon binding of the antigen to the T-cell receptor, several membrane events are initiated which are similar to those initiated by many hormones, including the mobilization of intracellular calcium stores. \n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in Western Blot, Immunocytochemistry \nImmunoprecipitation and Gel Supershift Assay. Other applications have not been tested. \n\nRecommended Dilutions: \nImmunocytochemistry: 1:250\nWestern Blot: 1:2000\nImmunoprecipitation: Chromatin Immunoprecipitation \nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. \n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
