NFkB, p50 (NF-kB, Nuclear Factor kappa B p50 Subunit, Nuclear Factor of kappa Light Polypeptide Gene Enhancer in B cells 1, NFkB1, DKFZp686C01211, DNA Binding Factor KBF1, EBP-1, KBF1, MGC54151, NF-kappa-B, NF-kB, Nuclear Factor kappa B DNA Binding Subuni

NF-kB/p50 (nuclear factor kappa light chain enhancer in B cells p50, NF-kB1) is a member of the Rel/dorsal family. This ubiquitously expressed nuclear protein is one subunit of the NF-kappa B complex consisting of a 65kD transactivating subunit and a 50kD DNA binding subunit. Both subunits are derived from larger precursor proteins. NF-kB acts as a transcriptional activator and was originally identified as an activator of kappa light chain in B cells. NF-kB/p50 is bound (with p65) to IkB inhibitor in cytoplasm in inactive form. Phosphorylation of IkB releases and NF-kB which goes to the nucleus to activate gene expression. NF-kB can be activated with LPS, TNF-a, phorbol ester, or IL-1.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Immunofluorescence and Western Blot. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nWestern Blot: 2.5ug/5ml\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
