Niban (Protein Niban, C1orf24, Cell Growth-inhibiting Gene 39 Protein, GIG39, Family with Sequence Similarity 129 Member A, FAM129A, Protein FAM129A, FLJ38228)

Niban gene is specifically expressed in hereditary renal carcinomas of model animals and in human malignancies, including renal cancers. It is a recently identified molecular marker of renal carcinogenesis in the Tsc2 gene mutant Eker rat. The expression of the protein is also upregulated in various types of thyroid tumors. The Niban gene consists of 14 exons and is located on human chromosome 1. Although the expression profiles of Niban suggest that it plays an important role in carcinogenesis, no functional information has yet been reported. However a recent study confirms Niban to be involved in the ER stress response, and thus modulates cell death signaling by regulating translation. In human, the protein is expressed in various tissues like heart, skeletal muscle, pancreas etc.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Western Blot. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
