NMDA 1 Receptor (NMDA R1, N-methyl-D-aspartate)

The ion channels activated by glutamate are divided into two classes. Those that are sensitive to N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) are designated NMDA receptors (NMDAR) while those activated by kainate and a-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxalone propionic acid (AMPA) are known as kainate/AMPA receptors (K/AMPAR). NMDA receptors are among the most studied receptors in neuroscience because they are involved in neuronal cell development and plasticity, a cellular correlate for learning. NMDA receptors are also implicated in several disorders of the central nervous system including epilepsy and ischemic neuronal cell death. NMDA receptors also appear to be a target for ethanol at physiological concentrations and therefore may play a significant role in alcoholism.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Western Blot and Immunoprecipitation. Other applications have not been tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nWestern Blot: 1:300.\nIt is recommended that the antibody be diluted in TBST (20mM Tris-HCl, 137mM NaCl, 1% Tween-20, pH 7.6) containing 5% nonfat milk and 0.05% sodium azide.\nImmunoprecipitation: 3ug per 200ug lysate\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nLyophilized powder may be stored at -20 degrees C. Reconstitute to nominal volume by adding sterile 40-50% glycerol, aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
