Noggin (NOG, Symphalangism 1 (Proximal), SYM1, Synostoses (Multiple) Syndrome 1, SYNS1)

Noggin belongs to a group of diffusible proteins which bind to ligands of the TGF-beta family and regulate their activity by inhibiting their access to signaling receptors. Noggin was originally identified as a BMP-4 antagonist whose action is critical for proper formation of the head and other dorsal structures. Consequently, Noggin has been shown to modulate the activities of other BMPs including BMP-2,-7,-13, and -14. Targeted deletion of Noggin in mice results in prenatal death and recessive phenotype displaying a severely malformed skeletal system. Conversely, transgenic mice over-expressing Noggin in mature osteoblasts display impaired osteoblastic differentiation, reduced bone formation, and severe osteoporosis.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications have not been tested. \n\nRecommended Dilution: \nWestern Blot: 0.5-4ug/ml\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. \n\nPositive Control:\nRecombinant human Noggin\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
