NOS1 (Nitric Oxide Synthase, Brain, Constitutive NOS, NC-NOS, NOS Type I, Neuronal NOS, N-NOS, nNOS, Peptidyl-cysteine S-nitrosylase NOS1, bNOS)

NOS are multifunctional hemoproteins catalyzing the synthesis of Nitric oxide from L- Arginine. These are bidomain enzymes and contain an N-terminal oxidase domain with P450-type heme active site and a BH4 binding site, a central CAM-binding motif, and a C-terminal reductase domain with an electron-transfer motif which binds FMN and FAD. NOS1, a neuronal isoform of NOS, is mainly expressed in neuronal tissues and skeletal muscle & consists of a unique N-terminal PDZ domain which mediates protein-protein interactions. It participates in diverse biological processes which include neurotransmission, neuroendocrine physiology, regulation of body fluid homeostasis, macula densa signaling, and control of smooth muscle motility, cardiac contractility, sexual function and myocyte/myoblast biology. It is activated due to Ca2+/ CAM interactions. Multiple factors including PIN, PKC, PKA, Hsp90, Calveolin 3 and CAM Kinases tightly regulate NOS1 activity and its role has been implicated in DMD and myopathies.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nWestern Blot: 1:500-1:1000\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
