NR2A (Grin2a, Glutamate Receptor, ionotropic, NMDA2A (epsilon 1), GluRepsilon1, NMDAR2A, N-methyl D-aspartate Receptor subtype 2A)

The NMDA receptor (NMDAR) is an ionotropic receptor for glutamate (NMDA (N-methyl D-aspartate) is a name of its selective specific agonist). Activation of NMDA receptors results in the opening of an ion channel that is nonselective to cations. This allows flow of Na+ and small amounts of Ca2+ ions into the cell and K+ out of the cell. Calcium flux through NMDARs is thought to play a critical role in synaptic plasticity, a cellular mechanism for learning and memory. The NMDA receptor is distinct in that it is both ligand-gated and voltage-dependent.\n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in Western Blot and Immunoprecipitation. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilutions:\nWestern Blot: 0.5-2ug/ml detects NR2A (~170kD) in rat brain microsomal preparations. Rat brain microsomal preparation was resolved by electrophoresis, transferred to nitrocellulose and probed with N5380-25. Proteins were visualized using an IgG (HRP) goat anti-rabbit and a chemiluminescence detection system.\nImmunoprecipitation: 4ug immunoprecipitates NR2A from rat brain hippocampus membranes and rat brain microsomal preparations.\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nRecommended Secondary Antibodies:\nI1904-39: IgG, X-Adsorbed (HRP) Pab Gt xRb\nI1904-40A: IgG, H&L, X-Adsorbed (HRP) Pab Gt xRb\nI1904-46Q: IgG, H&L (HRP) Pab Gt xRb\n\nRecommended Control:\nBrain Tissue\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
