Vbeta23 T cell receptor (TCR Vbeta23) is a variant of the TCR beta chain which is heterodimerized with TCR alpha chain and expressed on a subset of alphabeta+ T cells. TCR alpha/beta recognizes peptides presented by the MHC molecules and initiates T cell mediated immune responses. Vbeta23+ T cells are stimulated by the staphylococcal enterotoxin A (SEA) and by the pyrogenic toxin superantigens (PTSAgs) SpeK, SpeL, and SpeM from streptococcus.
