Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) immunoassay kit quantitatively measures PGE2 in serum, plasma (EDTA and heparin), urine, saliva, cells, tissue, and tissue culture medium samples. Our kit can be used with 25-100 ul samples sizes and is species independent.
Samples and standards are added to a 96-well microtiter plate coated with goat anti-mouse IgG, followed by secondary antibody PGE2-peroxidase conjugate. The binding reaction is initiated by the addition of a mouse monoclonal antibody specific to PGE2.The plate is incubated, washed, and substrate added. The substrate reacts with the bound PGE2-peroxidase conjugate to generate a color change. The color is measured at 450 nm wavelength.
PGE2 is produced by a variety of tissues and in pathological conditions including inflammation, arthritis, tissue injury and cancer. PGE2 plays a role in vasodilation, modulation of sleep/wake cycles, facilitation of HIV replication, elevation of cAMP levels, stimulation of bone resorption and has thermoregulatory effects.
