Protein Kinase C, Recombinant, Human (PKC)

An enzyme that phosphorylates proteins on serine or threonine residues in the presence of physiological concentrations of calcium and membrane phospholipids. The additional presence of diacylglycerols markedly increases its sensitivity to both calcium and phospholipids. The sensitivity of the enzyme can also be increased by phorbol esters and it is believed that protein kinase C is the receptor protein of tumor-promoting phorbol esters.\n\nPKC is a glycosilated polypeptide produced having a molecular mass of 81.9kD.\n\nDimers and Aggregates:\n(same/less than) 1% as determined by silver-stained SDS-PAGE gel analysis.\n\nUnit Definition:\n1 U = 1 pmol/min transferred to PKC peptide [QKRPSQRSKYL] at 30 degrees C.\n\nBiological Activity:\nSpecific activity > 150,000 U/mg\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 6 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
