Protein Labeling Kit, BioAssay(TM) (FITC) is designed for the simple and fast labeling of proteins with fluorescein. It is ideally suited to label antibodies, hormones, or other proteins as well as other macromolecules containing primary amino groups. Labeled proteins can be used in a number of applications, such as immunological assays, fluorescence microscopy, investigation of protein-protein interactions, etc.\n\nThe labeling reagent, fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), reacts with a primary amine on the protein, forming a covalent amide bond. Incorporation of the label is mainly accom- plished through reaction with primary amines on lysine residues or terminal amino groups, although accessible sulfhydryl groups may also react to a lesser extent. The linkage between fluorescein and the proteins produced with this reagent is stable, with no significant loss of the label during storage.\n\nEach kit contains all the components needed for at least five labeling reactions (up to 1mg of protein per reaction). \n\nKit Components:\nLabeling reagent (fluorescein isothiocyanate)\nReagent Solvent (DMF)\nReaction Buffer\nStop Buffer\nGel filtration slurry\n5x1ml spin columns\n5x2ml collection tubes\n\nStorage and Stability:\nStore powder at 4 degrees C, liquid at -20 degrees C. Store other components at 4 degrees C. Stable for 6 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
