Retinoic Acid Receptor beta (RAR-beta, RARB, RRB2, HBV-activated Protein, HAP, Nuclear Receptor Subfamily 1 Group B Member 2, NR1B2, RAR-epsilon)

Retinoic acid receptor beta (RAR beta), a NR1 Thyroid Hormone-Like Receptor localizes to the cytoplasm and to subnuclear compartments and is involved in the regulation of cell growth, differentiation, apoptosis, and carcinogenesis. RAR beta forms heterodimers with the retinoic acid X receptor (RXR) and binds to the direct repeat 1 (DR1) sequence of target DNA. It is thought that this protein limits growth of many cell types by regulating gene expression. The gene was first identified in a hepatocellular carcinoma where it flanks a hepatitis B virus integration site. The gene expresses at least two transcript variants; one additional transcript has been described, but its full length nature has not been determined. Additionally, a growing body of evidence supports the hypothesis that RAR beta is a tumor-suppressor gene. Altered expression of RAR beta has been linked to cancers, including those of the head and neck, lung, esophagus, breast, pancreas, and cervix. Three isoforms of RAR beta, beta 1, beta 2, and beta 4, have been documented in Humans.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Immunohistochemistry. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
