Ristocetin A is a potent antibacterial glycopeptide antibiotic but was withdrawn for clinical use following a high incidence of thrombocytopenia. Further investigation found that ristocetin A induced platelet aggregation by binding to a factor absent in people suffering from von Willebrand's disease and lead to the use of ristocetin A as an important diagnostic aid. Solubility: Soluble in water, methanol and DMSO Storage and Stability: May be stored at RT for short-term only. Long-term storage is recommended at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap.
