The serine/threonine kinase Rho-kinase, (or Rho-associated kinase, also designated as ROKa and ROCKII), was identified as a downstream effector of the small GTPase Rho, mediating effects of Rho on the actin cytoskeleton, formation of actin stress fibers and focal adhesions, smooth muscle contraction, myosin fiber organization and c-fos expression. Rho-kinase regulates the phosphorylation of myosin light chain (MLC) of myosin II by phosphorylation of MLC and by inactivation of myosin phosphotase through phosphorylation of MBS. In addition, Rho-kinase phosphorylates the ERM family proteins and adducin both in vitro and in vivo. ROCK-II mRNA is expressed abundantly in the brain, muscle, heart, lung and placenta.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nWestern Blot: 0.5-2ug/ml\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
