The 70kD ribosomal S6 kinase, p70S6K1, is a serine/threonine kinase that functions as a downstream target of the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/AKT and mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase signaling pathways. p70S6K1 mediates several effects of the PI3K/AKT pathway, including cellular transformation. The protein is also involved in neuronal cell differentiation, cell cycle progression and promotes the G1 phase of the cell cycle in response to growth factors. The protein has been implicated in inducing actin filament remodeling, an essential process for cell migration. Recent data suggests that the protein regulates the expression of an oncoprotein, HDM2, thus mediating tumor growth. Human p70S6K1 gene is localized in the chromosomal region 17q23.1. The protein is widely expressed and exists in two isoforms: a 70kD cytoplasmic form and a 85kD nuclear form.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nELISA: 1:100-1:1000\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. \n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
