Synapse-associated protein (SAP) 97 is a 97kD membrane-associated synapse protein with extensive sequence homology to the PSD 95 family of proteins that facilitate ion channel clustering at synaptic terminal. SAP97 consists of three 90aa PDZ domains at its amino terminus, followed by a Src homology (SH) 3 domain, and a region with homology to guanylate kinases (GK). In addition to the CNS, SAP97 is also detected at the basal lateral membrane between a variety of epithelial cells. SAP97 is recruited to the submembranous cortical cytoskeleton at cell-cell contact sites as part of the E-cadherin complex. Co-expression of SAP97 and K+ channel results in the colocalization of these proteins in large round intracellular aggregates. SAP 97 has been shown to have functional homology to Drosophila tumor suppressor protein (DlgA), a PSD 95 related protein involved in maintaining integrity of epithelial and neuromuscular junctions.

Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested.

ELISA: 1:16,000
Western Blot: 0.3-1ug/ml, observed in lysates of cell line KELLY on ~150kD bands

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
