Secretory Leukocyte Protease Inhibitor (SLPI) (Biotin)

Human Secretory Leukocyte Protease Inhibitor SLPI is a protein found in various secretory fluids, including parotid secretions, bronchial, nasal and cervical mucus, and seminal fluid. The protein is a potent inhibitor of a variety of proteolytic enzymes, including the neutrophil proteases, elastase and cathepsin G and the pancreatic proteases chymotrypsin and trypsin. SLPI is an important component of the antiprotease defense of tissues bathed by secretory fluids and could be useful as a therapeutic agent for treatment of the proteolytic damage of tissues seen in degenerative and inflammatory diseases.\n\nApplications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nWestern Blot: 0.1-0.2ug/ml with the appropriate secondary reagents to detect human SLPI. The detection limit for rhSLPI is ~1ng/lane and 5ng/lane under non-reducing and reducing conditions, respectively. \n\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Freeze at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 6 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
