SHP/SHPTP are tyrosine phosphatases which contain SH2 domains. SHP 1/SHPTP is expressed primarily in hematopoietic cells, and binds specific phosphotyrosine residues, often in ITIM motifs. SHP 1 is a down-regulator of receptor signaling and inhibits activation of macrophages, B-cells, T-cells, and mast cells. Motheaten mice harbor a mutation in SHP 1, which leads to progressive inflammation. SHP 2 has a broader expression pattern, and appears to promote cell proliferation and differentiation. Additionally, SHP 2 regulates cell spreading and migration in a manner similar to FAK, suggesting that the two act together to dynamically remodel focal adhesions.\n\nCatalytic domain (aa224-529) of SHP 2\nMW: 33.5kD\nSpecific Activity: ~3u/ug.\nUnit Definition: One unit will hydrolyze 1nmol p-nitrophenyl phosphate per minute at pH 7.4 and 30 degrees C\n\nAssay buffer: 50 mM HEPES, pH 7.4, 2 mM EDTA, 3 mM DTT, 100 mM NaCl, 50mM pNPP.\n\nApplication: Sutiable for use in Enzyme Kinetics, Regulation, to dephosphorylate target substrates and Screening inhibitors.
