This gene encodes a member of the sirtuin family of proteins, homologs to the yeast Sir2 protein. Members of the sirtuin family are characterized by a sirtuin core domain and grouped into four classes. The functions of human sirtuins have not yet been determined; however, yeast sirtuin proteins are known to regulate epigenetic gene silencing and suppress recombination of rDNA. Studies suggest that the human sirtuins may function as intracellular regulatory proteins with mono-ADP-ribosyltransferase activity. The protein encoded by this gene is included in class I of the sirtuin family. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants that encode different proteins have been described for this gene. \n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications have not been tested. \n\nRecommended Dilutions: \nPeptide ELISA Titer: 1:128,000\nWestern Blot: 0.1-0.3ug/ml ~28kD band observed in Human Liver lysates (calculated MW of 28.6kD according to NP_001017524.1). In transfected HEK293 transiently expressing SIRT3 bands of approx. 35kD and 48kD are observed. These bands are not observed in the non-transfected HEK293. \nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. \n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
