Sirtuin 7 (SIRT7) is a NAD-dependent protein deacetylase. It is required to restore the transcription of ribosomal RNA (rRNA) at the exit from mitosis. It promotes the association of RNA polymerase I with the rDNA promoter region and coding region. Stimulates transcription activity of the RNA polymerase I complex. Sirtuin 7 is an essential regulator of tissue homeostasis in the heart. Sirt7-deficient animals undergo a reduction in mean and maximum lifespans and develop heart hypertrophy and inflammatory cardiomyopathy. Sirt7 interacts with p53 and efficiently deacetylates p53 in vitro, which corresponds to hyperacetylation of p53 in vivo and an increased rate of apoptosis in myocardium. Biological Activity: HDAC activity. Sequence: Human sirtuin 7 (aa 1-400) is fused at the N-terminus to a His-tag. Storage and Stability: Short-term Storage: +4 degrees C Long-term Storage: -20 degrees C Working aliquots are stable for up to 3 months when stored at -20 degrees C.
