Smoothelin

Cat no: S1014-62B

Smoothelin

The antibody discriminates fully differentiated contractile smooth muscle cells (SMC) from proliferative SMC. Myofibroblasts, myoepithlial cells, skeletal and cardiac muscle do not contain smoothelin. The distribution of smoothelin-positive cells indicates a correlation between smoothelin expression and smooth muscle tissue contractility. The antibody is very useful for characterization of atherosclerotic lesions. \n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Western Blot, Immunofluorescence microscopy and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications have not been testd.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nWestern Blot: 1:1000 using ECL\nImmunohistochemistry (frozen and paraffin embedded): 1:100-1:200 with PBS, pH 7.4. Microwave pretreatment required. Use ABC method. Incubate 1hour at RT; extend time for paraffin embedded tissue.\nOptimal dilution determined by the researcher. \n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
