SNAP 25 (Synaptosomal-Associated Protein)

SNAP-25 (synaptosomal-associated protein) of 25kD is one of the conserved set of membrane proteins which are commonly referred to as SNAREs [soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor attachment protein (SNAP) receptors]. Neurons and neuroendocrine cells differentially express two SNAP-25 isoforms in a developmentally regulated manner and related homologues have been detected in most eukaryotic cells. SNAP-25 is predominantly localized on the cytoplasmic face of the plasma membrane and on secretory vesicles. It forms a stable ternary complex with the other two SNARE proteins, synoptobrevin [or vesicle-associated membrane protein (VAMP)] which resides on the membrane of synaptic vesicles and syntaxin 1 which is localized on the plasma membrane. Both trafficking and secretion critically depend on accurate and specific membrane recognition and fusion. The cyclic assembly of the SNARE proteins into a endocytic core complex and disassembly of these proteins is one of the key steps in exocytotic membrane fusion and heterogeneity of secretion may be dictated by the large number of possible combinations of only these few proteins.\n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in ELISA and Cell Staining Techniques. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilutions:\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
