Suppressors of cytokine signaling (SOCS) protein family includes eight members in humans: SOCS-1 through SOCS-7 and cytokine-inducible Src- homology 2 (SH2) containing protein (CIS). All members of the family have similar structure: variable length (50-380aa) and aa sequence N-terminal region, SH2 domain in the center, and homologous C-terminal 40aa long sequence that was named SOCS box. Studies have demonstrated that animals lacking normal SOCS function exhibit high cytokine activity that leads to a variety of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases and even cancer. SOCS-7 is one of the least studied members of the SOCS family. It is 581aa long and has 56% sequence identity with SOCS-6 in SH 2 region. SOCS-7 is the only member of the SOCS family that contains nuclear localization signal and proline-rich regions; specifically, it can interact with adaptor molecules Nck and Ash. It is predominantly expressed in the testis and brain. Similar to SOCS-6, it binds to IRS-2 and IRS-4 proteins. In addition, SOCS-7 interacts with actin, vinexin, and STAT5.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
