Somatostatin Receptor Type 1 (SSTr1)

Cat no: S5331-40

Somatostatin Receptor Type 1 (SSTr1)

Somatostatin acts to regulate numerous physiological processes by binding to and activating specific receptors in target tissues. Activation of these receptors by somatostatin, which is secreted by nerve and endocrine cells, regulates the secretion of insulin, glucagon and growth hormone, neuronal excitability in both the brain and the peripheral nervous system, and cell growth. Somatostatin receptors have been implicated in numerous diseases ranging from Alzheimer's to cancers of the gastrointestinal tract, breast, prostate, and pituitary.\n\nSomatostatin was originally isolated from the hypothalamus and characterized by its ability to inhibit release of growth hormone from the pituitary gland. It exists in two forms, somatostatin-14, composed of 14 amino acids and somatostatin-28, a prohormone composed of 28 residues.\n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nWestern Blot: 1:1000-1:5000 where a band is seen at 60kD representing Somatostatin receptor 1.\n\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Freeze at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.\n\nSubject to uses under US Patent No. 05/998, 154
