STAT3 (Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 3, Acute-phase Response Factor, APRF, FLJ20882, MGC16063)

A variety of cytokines and growth factors act through an induction of gene expression mediated by a family of latent transcription factors called STAT (Signal Transducers and Activators of Transcription) proteins. Cytokines, hormones and growth factors proceed through a sequence of steps that includes binding to receptors in the cytokine receptor superfamily followed by the activation of the JAK family of tyrosine kinases, which results in the activation of STAT proteins. STAT3, a 86kD protein, serves as a signaling molecule for many cytokines, such as IL-6, and growth-factor receptors, such as EGF. Necessary for murine fetal development, STAT3 is also expressed in a number of human tumors. STAT3 is activated by JAK1 via phosphorylation at its Tyr705, which induces dimerization, nuclear translocation and DNA binding. Transcriptional activation of STAT3 is regulated by the MAPK or mTOR pathway via phosphorylation at its Ser727.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nELISA: 0.1-1ug/ml\nWestern Blot: 0.5-2ug/ml\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
