Syntrophin (alpha-1) is a peripheral membrane protein located at the neuromuscular junction. Syntrophin (alpha-1) is expressed at high levels in skeletal muscle and heart, and at lower levels in brain, pancreas, liver, kidney and lung. It is an adaptor protein which is thought to bind and organise the subcellular localisation of membrane proteins such as utrophin and acetylcholine receptor. Syntrophin (alpha-1) also binds phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate, it may link various receptors to the dystrophin glycoprotein complex and the actin cytoskeleton.\n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nImmunohistochemistry: 1:100. Use paraformaldehyde-fixed, Triton X-100 treated, frozen sections of rat skeletal muscle.\nWestern Blot: 1:1000. Staining of S9299-96 is specifically inhibited with alpha 1 syntrophin immunizing peptide. Predicted molecular weight: 60kD.\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nCellular Localization: \nMembrane-associated. In skeletal muscle, it localizes at the cytoplasmic side of the sarcolemmal membrane and at neuromuscular junctions.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
