T-cell acute lymphocytic leukemia 1 (tal-1) is a basic helix-loop-helix transcription factor expressed in early hematopoietic and endothelial progenitors. Loss-of-function studies on tal-1 have demonstrated that it is critical to hematopoeitic stem cell differentiation and angiogenic remodeling of the vasculature. Also known as stem-cell leukemia (scl), tal-1 expression forced in zebrafish mutant cloche rescues blood and vascular defects, suggesting that tal-1 acts downstream of the mutation. Tal-1 is able to induce expression of the LIM domain protein Lmo2 at the somatic paraxial mesoderm. In the absence of erythroid or myeloid hematopoiesis inducers, tal-1 and Lmo2-induced hemangioblasts differentiate into endothelial cells. Tal-1 is essential to the control of endocardium morphogenesis.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot.
