Thromboxane B2 (TXB2) is further metabolized enzymatically to a series of compounds, of which 11-dehydro-TXB2 is the major product found both in plasma and urine. The dehydrogenase-catalyzing 11-dehydro-TXB2 formation is tissue bound and widely expressed, with the highest occurrence being found in lung and kidney.
