Thymidine Phosphorylase (TdRPase, TP, TYMP, Endothelial Cell Growth Factor 1, Endothelial Cell Growth Factor 1 (Platelet-derived), ECGF1, Gliostatin, hPD ECGF, hPD-ECGF, MNGIE, PD ECGF, PDECGF, PD-ECGF)

Platelet-derived endothelial growth factor (PD-ECGF), same as thymidine phosphorylase (TP) or gliostatin. In the presence of inorganic orthophosphate, it catalyses the reversible phospholytic cleavage of thymidine and deoxyuridine to their corresponding bases and 2-deoxyribose-1-phosphate. It is both chemotactic and mitogenic for endothelial cells and a non-heparin binding angiogenic factor present in platelets. It is also involved in transformation of fluoropyrimidines, cytotoxic agents used in the treatment of a variety of malignancies, into active cytotoxic metabolites.\n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry (Fr) (paraffin-embedded sections). Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nPositive Control: HUVEC cells. Breast carcinoma.\n\nCellular Localization: Cytoplasmic and nuclear.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile glycerol (40-50%), aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 3 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
