Thyroglobulin (Tg)

Thyroglobulin is the precursor of the iodinated thyroid hormones thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). Thyroglobulin, a large glycoprotein with multiple tyrosyl molecules, is the storage form of thyroid hormone and is found in the follicular lumen of the thyroid cell. Coupling of iodotyrosine molecules within thyroglobulin forms the thyroid hormones T3 (triiodothyronine) and T4 (tetraiodothyronine). The protein is made up of 8301-nucleotide segment encoding a preprotein monomer of 2767aa, flanked by non-coding 5' and 3' regions of 41 and 106 nucleotides, respectively. It is expressed in thyroid gland. The gene encoding thyroglobulin protein maps to 8q24 region of human chromosome. The pathological role of the protein has been identified in some forms of goitre.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nImmunohistochemistry (Formalin fixed paraffin embedded): 1:25-1:50\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nPositive Control:\nThyroid\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
