TIGAR (Tp53-Induced Glycolysis and Apoptosis Regulator, Chromosome 12 Open Reading Frame 5, C12orf5, Probable Fructose-2,6-bisphosphatase TIGAR)

TIGAR is a p53-inducible protein that functions to regulate glycolysis and protect against oxidative stress and is part of the p53 tumor suppressor pathway. It encodes a protein with sequence similarity to the bisphosphate domain of the glycolytic enzyme that degrades fructose-2, 6-bisphosphate. TIGAR functions by blocking glycolysis and directing the pathway into the pentose phosphate shunt. Overexpression of TIGAR in mouse and human cells resulted in inhibition of glycolysis, as well as a decrease in intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) and provides some protection from DNA damage-induced apoptosis in a cell type-specific manner.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nWestern Blot: 1-3ug/ml\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nPositive Control:\nMCF7\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
