TIMP-4 (TIMP4, Tissue Inhibitor of Metalloproteinases 4)

Endogenous inhibitors of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) called tissue inhibitors of matrix metalloproteinases (TIMPs) are secreted multifunctional proteins that play pivotal roles in the regulation of extracellular matrix metabolism. They play a critical role in extracellular matrix remodeling, which is involved in tumor growth and metastasis. Elevated TIMP levels are reported in association with cancer progression. They comprise a family of four members, of which TIMP4 is characterized by being primarily restricted to cardiovascular structures. It is present in medial smooth muscle cells and adventitial capillaries of arteries as well as in cardiomyocytes. It is involved in regulation of platelet aggregation and recruitment. It also plays a role in hormonal regulation and endometrial tissue remodeling.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nWestern Blot: 1:100-500\nImmunohistochemistry (paraffin): 1:25-1:50\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nPositive Control:\nHuman lung cell line\n\nCellular Localization: \nCytoplamic\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
