Tumor necrosis factor beta (TNF beta, lymphotoxin alpha, LTA) is a multifunctional pro-inflammatory cytokine involved in the immune system and local inflammatory response (1). A member of the tumor necrosis factor family, TNF beta is secreted by mitogen-activated peripheral blood leukocytes (T and B lymphocytes) and cell lines from hematopoietic origin (2). In its homotrimeric form, TNF beta binds to TNFR1 and TNFR2, which activates various cellular responses, including cytotoxic effects on a wide range of tumor cells. Similar to TNF alpha, TNF beta is involved in the regulation of cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. TNF beta activity has been implicated in the pathogenesis of in various diseases, such as coronary heart disease, schizophrenia, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (3). Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:5000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Manufactured incorporating RabMAb(R) technology under Epitomics US patents, No 5,675,063 and 7,429,487, owned by Abcam.
