Tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) plays an important role in the physiology of adrenergic neurons. It is the first and rate-limiting enzyme involved in the biosynthesis of the catecholamines dopamine and norepinephrine from tyrosine. TH is therefore a useful marker for dopaminergic and noradrenergic neurons. The enzymatic activity of TH requires ferrous ions as cofactors and is believed to be regulated by phosphorylation. Phosphorylation of TH at Ser19 is induced by NMDA and okadaic acid, as well as by CAM Kinase II in rat pheochromocytoma cells and brain synapses.

Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence. Other applications not tested.

Immunofluorescence:1:100-1:200

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
