Urea Transporter 2 (RUT2)

Urea is the major end product of nitrogen metabolism and it is concentrated up to four times higher than that of plasma. A rapid, passive transport of urea through the membranes of the IMCD is responsible for generation of high urea concentration in the inner medullary interstitium.\n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications have not been tested. \n\nRecommended Dilutions:\nELISA: 1:100,000 using 50-100ng control peptide/well.\nWestern Blot: 1-10ug/ml using ECL. An antibody made to rUT2 peptide detected a major band at ~97kD in rat renal inner medulla membranes. The open reading frames of the cDNA clones for rabbit and rat UT2 predicted a protein of only ~43kD. However, northern blots using these cDNAs revealed 2 distinct transcripts (2.9 and 4kb). The 97kD band correspond to the 4 kb transcript.\nImmunohistochemistry: 2-10ug/ml in paraformaldehyde fixed sections of tissues. RUT2 has been localized in apical and sub-apical membranes of IMCD. Adherent cells can be fixed in 50% methanol/50% acetone or 1% paraformaldehyde.\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
