VCX-A is only expressed in testis and may play a role in spermatogenesis or in sex ratio distortion. It is a 186aa peptide that has an estimated molecular weight of ~20kD. It was recently identified that VCX-A is an inhibitor of the decapping enzyme DCP2 and that it stabilized mRNA. It is a noncanonical cap-binding protein that binds to capped RNA but not cap structures lacking RNA. Defects in VCX-A are associated with some forms of X-linked nonspecific mental retardation.
Applications:
Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:
Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20 degrees C. Stable for 12 months at -20 degrees C. Reconstitute with sterile 40-50% glycerol, ddH2O. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20 degrees C. Aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
