Vitamin D-binding protein (VDBP, DBP, Gc) is a multifunctional plasma protein that has many physiologically important functions, ranging from transporting vitamin D3 metabolites, binding and sequestering globular actin and binding fatty acids to functioning in the immune system. It is a member of a multigene family including alpha-fetoprotein and albumin. It is a serum glycoprotein that reversibly binds and transports vitamin D and its metabolites to target cells. VDBP has a triple domain modular structure with extensive disulfide bonding that is characteristic of this protein family. VDBP receptors are constitutively expressed by malignant B-cells and in a transitory form by normal B-lymphocytes undergoing mitogen-induced activation (1-4). Applications: Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry, Western Blot, Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:5,000-1:20,000 Immunocytochemistry: 1:100 Flow Cytometry: 1:40 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Manufactured incorporating RabMAb(R) technology under Epitomics US patents, No 5,675,063 and 7,429,487, owned by Abcam.
