Xanthine Oxidase BioAssay(TM) Kit

Xanthine oxidase (XO, EC 1.17.3.2 ) is present in appreciable amounts in the liver and jejunum\nin healthy individuals. However, in various liver disorders, XO is released into circulation. Therefore, determination of serum XO level serves as a sensitive indicator of acute liver damage such as jaundice. This kit is an easy and sensitive assay to determine XO in variety of samples. In the assay, XO oxidizes xanthine to hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) which reacts stoichiometrically with OxiRed(TM) Probe to generate color (at lambda = 570nm) and fluorescence (at Ex/Em = 535/587nm). Since the color or fluorescence intensity is proportional to XO content, the XO activity can be accurately measured. The kit detects 1-100mU xanthine oxidase in 100ul reaction volume.\n\nKit Components:\nX0980-28A: Assay Buffer, 1x25ml. Supplied as a liquid. Ready to use as supplied. \n\nX0980-28B: Probe, 1x200ul. Pipette to dissolve.\n\nX0980-28E: Positive Control, 1x8ul. Dilute with 92ul ddH2O. Pipette to dissolve completely. Store at -20C. Use within 2 months.\n\nX0980-28F: H2O2 Standard (0.88M), 1x100ul\n\nStorage and Stability:\nStore the kit at -20 degrees C. Stable for 6 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
