Other applications not tested.\n\nSpecificity\nUsing a conjugate 5 hydroxytryptamine-Glutaraldehyde-Protein, antibody specificity was performed with an ELISA test by competition experiments with the following compounds: \n\nCompounds Cross-reactivity ratio(a)\n5 Hydroxytryptamine-G-PL 1\n5 Hydroxytryptamine-G-PL (b) 1/10\n5 Methoxytryptamine-G-PL 1/25\nTryptamine-G-PL 1/51\n5 Hydroxytryptophan-G-PL 1/175\n5 Hydroxytryptamine 1/1,150\nTryptophan-G-PL 1/3,400\n5 Methoxytryptophan-G-PL 1/19,800\n\n(a) : 5 Hydroxytryptamine-G-PL concentration/unconjugated or conjugated indolealkylamine concentration at half displacement.\n(b) : Non-reduced conjugate\nG = Glutaraldehyde, PL = poly-Lysine\n\nRecommended dilution\nThe antiserum was tested using the free floating PAP technique on rat raphe nuclei. The anti-conjugated 5-hydroxytryptamine antibodies stains well between a 1/2,000-1/5,000.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Freeze at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
